3 Tips To Keep In Mind When Installing Outdoor LED Strips

Because it is used for outdoor ,we should choose IP65 or higher protection level strip light (waterproof, dustproof, UV-proof) to avoid short circuit caused by rain or humid environment.
And usually we prioritize the use of silicone material or highly weather-resistant PVC housing to ensure anti-aging and high and low temperature resistance (-30℃~60℃). Then confirm voltage suitability (recommend low voltage 24V DC light strip to avoid the risk of high voltage leakage). and Check that the length of the strip matches the power of the power supply to avoid pressure drop or heat generation due to overloading. And Ensure that the light strip has CE, RoHS and other certificates and meets outdoor electrical safety standards.
It is also important to choose the light strip that supports segmented cutting (cut according to marked points to avoid damaging the circuit). And the color temperature and brightness need to meet the needs of the scene (e.g. warm light to create atmosphere, cold light for functional lighting). And then make a plan in advance how to connect the light strips (series or parallel), and reserve the position of the power connector.

2.Operation staff professional qualification and experience:
The staff need to hold an electrician's license and be familiar with outdoor electrical equipment installation specifications. They should have experience in outdoor lighting installation and understand the special requirements of waterproof and lightning strike prevention.
Aerial workers need to hold a climbing license and wear safety ropes, non-slip shoes and other equipment. And training them on electricity safety (e.g. power failure operation, use of insulated tools). Electricians are responsible for wiring and energizing test and installers are responsible for fixing and routing. And then set up a site manager to supervise the construction quality and ensure that each step meets the specifications.

3. Operation method specification:
Firstly, we need to measure the length of the installation area and plan the direction of the light strip (avoiding sharp objects or high temperature areas), the length of each section of the light strip is not more than 5 meters, if too long we need to segment power supply or install amplifiers. We need to clean the mounting surface to ensure that there is no oil, dust. Then use special clips or weatherproof 3M adhesive to fix and set one fixing point every 30cm. Bending radius ≥ 3 times the width of the strip is to avoid excessive bending result in broken .
Secondly, we need to use waterproof junction box or welding connection, and wrap waterproof tape + heat-shrinkable tube around the joints for double protection. The power adapter needs to be installed in a dry and ventilated place, and equipped with leakage protection device.
We have to seal the end of the light strip with waterproof plug to avoid water vapor entering,and use weatherproof sealant (e.g. silicone adhesive) along the strip to cover the edge gaps.

Lastly, use a multimeter to check whether the line is short-circuited or disconnected before energizing. And observe the brightness consistency of the whole section after lighting, and troubleshoot the dark area or flickering problem. Then simulate rainy day to test the waterproof performance, and check the heat generation after 2 hours of continuous operation.
